Sometimes, collisions occur between bicycles and motor vehicles. Such auto accidents can result in bicyclists suffering injuries. Recently, an injury-causing auto vs. bicycle accident occurred in Pennsylvania.

The crash occurred in Mechanicsburg on Wednesday. Around noon that day, a tractor-trailer was travelling along North Walnut Street. Reportedly, the tractor-trailer then hit a bicyclist who was also travelling along this road. The pennlive.com article which reported this story did not mention if it is yet known what specifically caused this accident to occur.

Reportedly, after striking the bicyclist, the tractor-trailer drove away. Police have not yet been able to ascertain the identity of the tractor-trailer’s driver.

The bicyclist that the tractor-trailer hit was hurt in the accident.

Reportedly, the bicyclist’s injuries are minor in nature. Thus, it thankfully appears that no serious injuries occurred as a result of the accident. This isn’t always the case in auto vs. bicycle accidents. Bicyclists can suffer significant harm in such accidents. Auto vs. bicycle accidents can sometimes even result in a bicyclist’s death.

How to Prevent Bicycle Accidents

Thus, auto vs. bicycle accidents can be a very serious matter. Consequently, it is very important for motor vehicle drivers in Pennsylvania to take all proper steps to prevent bicycle accidents, including obeying all traffic laws, keeping an eye out for bicycles when out on the roads and driving responsibly when driving in areas where bicycles are present.

One hopes that all motorists in the state will do what they can to help make Pennsylvania’s roads a safe place for bicyclists.
